Disc Dryer CDry
Efficient contact drying of liquids containing solids with the Disc Dryer CDry
The Allgaier CDry disc dryer efficiently dries liquid products containing solids in suspension creating solid, dried material. The advantage of the CDry lies in the large heat transfer surface area combined with a compact footprint, thus allowing you to recover valuable solids from your process effectively on a small cost per square foot basis.
In addition to the smallest dryer size CDry 501 lab, which is particularly suitable for laboratory applications and for drying very small quantities, another model series is available for production applications. With the additional product group CDry food, not only the existing industries in the field of chemistry, waste water technology, pigment production etc. can be served, but also the highest demands in the food and feed industry can be met.

Functionality
A liquid containing the solids you wish to recover is filled from the external product feed tank into the CDry’s integrated circulation tank. The suspension/solution is conveyed to individual feed pipes by a circulation pump. Each feedpipe discharges liquid product to one side of the heated rotating discs. Any amount of liquid that does not adhere to the disc returns to the circulation tank for reapplication over the drying disks. During one disc revolution, the solvent (e.g. water) contained in the liquid product evaporates. The dried solid material adhering to the heated disc is scraped off with knives before the rotation is completed. The degree of final product dryness can be influenced by the speed of the disk rotation and the temperature of the steam heating the disc. The resulting dry product is conveyed out of the dryer via the product discharge system. It is also possible to create concentrated liquids without producing a dry product. Depending on the material property of the product the resulting dry material can take different forms. The exact product behavior of your material can be determined in the Allgaier test plant in the Allgaier Technical Center.
Benefits
High Efficiency: Compared to convective drying systems, lower heat losses with the exhaust air stream.
Simple Process Monitoring: Good process chamber accessibility at the front of the CDry means easy monitoring of your process/product. An electrically opening glass pane or a grid plate variant are both available in all CDry models.
Compact Design: Because of the compact disc design, 60% smaller footprint compared to other contact dryers. Control cabinet installation in the machine housing may also be possible to further reduce required space. Because of its size and design, the dryer can be transported as a single unit "in one piece".
Optimal Accessibility: Separate access to the two technical spaces and the central process space of the CDry. Sight glasses and integrated work lighting for visual control are located on the back side of the unit.
Simple Handling: Intuitive design of the touch panel enables easy monitoring and changing of machine / process parameters. Automation options (such as start-up, shutdown or cleaning mode) can be designed into the controls.
High Safety Design: Service openings for extended access, integrated steam control section incl. safety valve and all rotating and hot machine parts are covered. The CDry is designed in compliance with the Machinery Directive and CE regulations.
